If I ever were to consider sailing on a Fantasy Class ship again, I'd choose Carnival Paradise simply because it sails out of Tampa. Though minor, the glass shower door on Carnival Celebration was a modern touch that I sorely missed while sailing on Carnival Elation. Typically, I don't worry about unpacking the products inside of my hanging toiletries organizer; however, I didn't have a choice on Carnival Elation!
Upper Deck

Atlantic Deck
A total of 98 balconies were added to existing staterooms, which were upgraded to 230 ft2 / 21 m2 sized balcony cabins. The number of passenger staterooms was increased from 1026 to 1094, which increased the boat's passenger capacity from 2052 to 2128 (max 2462 to 2554). The fourth floor cabins are quiet, but they are far from the coffee, snacks and beverages on Deck 10. I recommend a Deck 6 cabin for better convenience to shipboard amenities. There’s an adults only sun lounging area for ages 21+ on Deck 9 Aft, called the Serenity Deck. We found that the Deck 15 Sun Deck was larger and quieter. While the sun deck does not have a hot tub, it was our favorite place to relax with a good book!

If you’re looking for the greatest room on the ship, look up. The Grand Vista Suite is the biggest, located on the uppermost deck… and all this altitude has a way of also elevating the view. As do floor-to-ceiling windows that make sure nothing gets in the way. Even more convenience and comfort come standard, like a huge balcony made for stretching out, a tub that’s great for doing the same, a convenient walk-in dressing area, plus VIP check-in. Supervised age-specific fun youth activities will keep kids from ages 2 to 11 years happy and busy at Camp Carnival, which is like a summer camp, but at sea.

Entertainment & Activities
There are no specialty dining restaurants on the ship, but the restaurant staff has come up with a few creative solutions to allow people an upscale dining experience even without dedicated space for it. The buffet, Guys Burger Joint and Blue Iguana Cantina all had great food. We liked the options and that there was plenty of seating on the ship.
In December 2017, Carnival announced the 2019 deployment of Carnival Elation to Port Canaveral (Orlando Florida) (new homeport). Starting on May 12, 2019, the ship will operate a year-round schedule of 4- and 5-day Bahamas cruises. Departures are on Thursdays (4-day itinerary to Freeport and Nassau) and on Mondays and Saturdays (5-day itinerary to Amber Cove Dominicana and Grand Turk Island). I’ve not seen this on other ships, and think it’s a great addition on the Carnival Elation. If you tire of ocean-gazing, there's plenty more to do onboard, but 24-hour room service is one amenity you can enjoy as you continue to take in the view. The Carnival ship Elation is one of the company's oldest (Fantasy-class) vessels with sisterships Ecstasy, Fantasy, Fascination, Imagination, Inspiration, Paradise, Sensation. A fleet-first feature for a Fun Ship is CCL Elation's dedicated conference center able to accommodate small groups for private meetings.
In comparison, when sailing on Carnival Conquest, a larger vessel with a maximum capacity of nearly 4,000 guests, we were required to pick up a tender group number the morning of our arrival. They seemed to really abide by the groups, too, as I saw numerous guests get turned away trying to disembark before they were called. Overall, I didn't have any major issues with the quality of the food onboard Carnival Elation. Some dishes fell short compared to those I had on Carnival Conquest, Vista, and Celebration; however, venues like Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana remained fairly consistent.
