#12: Side-Parted Caramel Balayage Curls

This short curly hairstyle is like a shiny halo around the face and is great for any curl type. This style is the one to choose if you’re looking for a cut with a strong visual edge that suits your natural hair. For a bold shape and an accentuated a-line appearance, the short, stacked, curly bob hairstyles need slight layering. Give your hair a dramatic pop with a jet-black color.

Midlength With Major Texture

Super short and curly pixie is perfect for ladies with oval-faced shapes looking for a simple, manageable, yet bold haircut. With shorter sides and a longer top and front, your curls can lay beautifully across your forehead. A side-parted wavy pixie adds waves and volume at the top of the head, perfect for women with an oval face shape. Wavy hair adds a different look to your usual style, adding a lot of texture and volume. A permed pixie cut works well since styling comes minimal. To show you how versatile the hairstyle can really be, we've gathered 20 gorgeous short curly looks from our favorite celebs.

Dark Brown Bob

When rocking a cut like this, you’ll be free to make minor variations daily based on your naturally curly texture. This hairstyle is about enhancing the curls’ volume and texture while balancing out the angular nature of square faces. Keeping the hair long is key to avoid making the face look rounder.

You can do so with a big turban that covers the first half of your hair, shielding it from weather damage. It also works for quickly masking flat roots, if ever needed. Curly bangs are popping up everywhere these days, and they're not limited to longer styles. For a look like this, ask your stylist for the same length all around with eyebrow-skimming bangs that transition into your length. Keep your curls big and bouncy, like model Alanna Arrington, to show off the shape of your spirals.

Pixie 'Fro

Try short, curly hair with a center part to enhance your natural curl. Taking length off and going for a shorter look will help to improve your curls by reducing the weight on your red hair. The center part works very well on women with oblong faces, as it helps to create a more rounded look to your face. Class up your beautiful short, curly ringlets with a shag. Pair this adorable style with painted highlights for added shimmer. Using the best hydrating hair products will keep your short curly shag looking shiny and healthy.

Ombre Pixie Hairstyle with Long Bangs

A brunette natural style and short cut for curly hair can bring a youthful touch to your look. Brunettes can range in tones from the warmth of copper to the coolness of violet. Discussing which tone will complement your overall look will help to personalize your preference.

Tight Red Ringlets

A great short cut for natural hair is a TWA, or teeny weenie Afro, of about one to two inches long. If you’re looking to sport an-ultra short style or you feel like you need a big chop to start fresh with your curly strands, this cut is perfect for you. Simply apply a leave-in curl-defining cream to add definition and hydration to your short tendrils.

Natural Texture

But, if your color is dark, you might not be able to get this color without sacrificing the health of your hair. I suggest you ask your colorist if it’s an obtainable option. The cut will work wonderfully on naturally curly hair. And you’ll want to ask for medium-length layers and a long side fringe.

Add a bit of highlights to your hair color and before you know it, you’ll be looking in the mirror and seeing a whole new you rocking your new short curly hair. Shiny curls are half the battle with any hairstyle. If you’re a fan of longer side parted curly bangs, this is definitely the style for you. This is a great option for women with thick curly hair.

This is one of the trendy hairstyles for short curly hair that will bring you French charm – elegant, classy, and, by all means, captivating. Your short natural curly hair will never go out of fashion. These days, more people are embracing their natural hair texture in all its wavy, curly, coily, or kinky glory. And it doesn't look like that is changing anytime soon. While it's important to keep your strands healthy in order for them to look their best, the right haircut is also helpful in that pursuit.

Tessa Thompson's pairing with a mini fringe makes for a particularly inspired look. This blend of hyaluronic acid and rice water adds expensive-looking shine to hair while nourishing the strands themselves. This dimensional cut incorporates layers that help the curls stack up and form a triangular silhouette setting off the curves and providing support for the volume.

If you’re feeling bold, shaved sides can create an edgy look. A long pixie cut is a chic and low-maintenance option that offers a polished yet effortless style. This cut keeps length in the top and front, allowing curls to form while framing the face with soft layers. A long pixie is great for those who want to enhance their natural curls. And it’s perfect for keeping the hair length manageable. It’s easy to see why curly bangs have become one of the year’s biggest trends – they bring definition and texture to any short curly hairstyle.

If you are looking for a short cut for your curly hair that can withstand humidity then this is a must try. Having seen a more loving embrace in the mid-2000s with the natural hair movement, natural curls are here to stay, and we couldn’t be happier. But that doesn’t mean that curly hair doesn’t take a bit of work. No matter how well-acquainted you are with your natural curls, any curly girl can tell you that curls have a mind of their own. A super short pixie or finger waves, especially in a sleek color in cool tones, will bring the vintage vibes to short curly hairstyles. The secret is to use a nice, thick gel, like Shea Moisture's Coconut and Hibiscus Curling Gel Souffle ($14).

With a pack of bobby pins and some patience, you can createa voluminous curly faux hawk for the day. Bring each curl towards the topcenter and secure it with a pin down the middle of your head. On the other hand, if you want less of a rounded shape and more of a sleek body, try a blunt medium bob with minimal layers. In fact, if any, the layers should be maintained around the cutting line for the simple purpose of definition. Shorter layers will increase the roundness of your silhouette.

She can be the center of attention in any room, in a good way—or, on humid days, in a not-so-good way. Curls aren't one-size-fits-all, nor are they afraid to make you work to stay in their good graces. With a well-chosen short haircut, curly hair can reach its full potential with half the effort.

In the mood for laid-back short haircuts for curly hair? On lazy days, smooth your curls back with a fingertip amount of some gel, and your style is complete. You can opt for this ringlet style if you have a longer pixie. Getting the look may take a little bit of extra time and effort, depending on how chunky you want your curls to be. Use a comb or your hands to coil clean, damp hair into coils, and allow your hair to dry before loosening.

If you click on links we provide, we may receive compensation. Loose, romantic waves can be held off the face with artfully placed bobby pins, as Blake Lively demonstrates here. Using the same steps from #15, change up the placement of the barrettes to alter the look. Brush out your curls before pulling them back into a half-up/half-down using the steps from #5 for a trendy frizzed-out look. Rowan's 1920s-inspired "S" waves are perfect for a elegant night out. It's rare to see Bella without her slicked back pony or updo, so when she changes it up, we have to talk about it.

In addition, the tapered sides sculpt the hairstyle by taking off excess hair weight. For a mixed protective hairstyle for natural hair, try pairing your curls with some cornrows on the sides. In doing so, you’ll be reducing styling time while creating an appealing shape for everyday wear. To take even more weight out of your hair and highlight your eyes, go even shorter with a tousled pixie bob hairstyle. If your hair lies somewhere between curly and wavy, blend textures to sharpen your facial features. For example, you can cut the back in graduated layers and leave everything choppy and curly around your face.

The key to a curly pixie cut with bangs is to ask your stylist for an asymmetrical cut. To style this feminine curly pixie cut, add mousse to wet hair, scrunch your tight coils, and let your hair dry. The androgynous, edgy pixie is a mix of graduation in the back and length left on the top of the hair. When getting a curly haircut, it is vital to remember your natural curl pattern and ensure the curls lay how they naturally would.

Mo's Egg House, Redmond Menu, Reviews 475, Photos 60

mo's egg house

Better than any breakfast we have had in a very long time. Perhaps what stands out as much as the tasty meals is the fact that Mo’s dishes out complimentary homemade coffee cake. Once we were seated, we were each invited to have a free slice. I like to finish my breakfast with something sweet, so I saved the coffee cake for last, which was perfect. We’ve put together a list of the top restaurants, highest rated cafes, best spots for brunch, and more. That bill, known as the Bipartisan Countering Antisemitism Act, would establish a National Coordinator to Counter Antisemitism within the White House in charge of coordinating federal efforts to counter anti-Jewish hate and serve as the president’s principal adviser on the issue.

It was introduced earlier this month by a bipartisan group of House and Senate lawmakers. If you’re looking for fun restaurants in Central Oregon, swing by the Tumalo food carts pod! Also known at The Bite, this is a small collection of diverse food trucks in the middle of a tiny riverside town called Tumalo. The staff at Mo’s works hard to keep things running efficiently. We were served promptly and asked if we wanted coffee refills almost too frequently. Tables turn over pretty quickly, so if you find yourself in line, know that you probably won’t be waiting too long to be seated.

Coming Soon: Redmond Historic Hotel in Central Oregon

I am not sure which was better, the food or the service! Everyone was so friendly and the food was amazing. They serve breakfast and lunch, great menu.

Supporters of the bill say it will help to combat the scourge of anti-Jewish hatred, but opponents expressed concerns about free speech. The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to pass a bill aimed at curbing antisemitism amid a rash of demonstrations on college campuses nationwide protesting Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza. It’s no wonder this Redmond restaurant has become such a local favorite so quickly. We were all happy with our brunch orders. Being an eggs benedict fan, I had to try the crab cake benny. Great flavor with thick, creamy hollandaise.

mo's egg house

It may actually be one of my favorite benedicts ever. Mo’s Egg House seats about 60 in a small room with “bar” seating as well. It’s decked out in farm decor, with a large menu of hearty breakfast and lunch items. We finally got around to trying Mo’s Egg House for Sunday brunch, and we’re glad we did.

Equally as wasteful, however, would be spending top dollar for a high-powered program with capabilities the user doesn’t need. Experienced CAD users might have an idea of what they liked or disliked about their previous software, but those who are new to the drafting world might want some guidance. The following sections will explain everything a CAD shopper needs to know to ensure they’re not paying too much for software that exceeds their needs or wasting their money on underpowered software. It’s not uncommon for would-be homeowners to write a heartfelt letter or make a video—possibly accompanied by baked goods—to position themselves as the most worthy buyers. So while it’s not hard to understand why so many people are clamoring to buy a home in the Bay Area, those incredible perks are offset by one major drawback—a sky-high real estate market. Now, the Lung Association is urging EPA to set long-overdue stronger national limits on ozone pollution. While such defects might give buyers ammunition to bargain in another market, in the Bay Area’s tight market, even those properties sell rather easily. In other parts of the country, it’s common for problems found during the inspection to re-open price negotiations. But in the Bay Area, your seller may have a backup offer waiting, which may preclude any negotiation. It’s still important to find out if the house has any major problems, though, because if you can’t afford repairs and the seller won’t budge, this is your chance to back out. In no time at all, you’ll be settled in and ready to enjoy all the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer, from summer music festivals in Golden Gate Park to authentic Chinese food in Fremont.

LA architecture experts pick the city's most beautiful buildings

If your career requires you to drive to sales calls all over the Bay Area, for example, you might prefer living in an East Bay neighborhood where most homes have a garage and easy freeway access. Or if surfing before or after work is almost as important as your career right now, you can’t beat the Sunset District, which has quick access to Ocean Beach. Whatever it is, whether it’s commute, school district, outdoor space, or otherwise you can still confine yourself to neighborhoods that cater to your lifestyle—it might just not be the neighborhood you thought of first. Adults can sign up for fitness classes, dodgeball leagues, and even private coaching. Short term particle pollution spikes are a clear example of the impacts that climate change is having on health.

Select your location to view local American Lung Association events and news near you. Consider the amount of cash you have on hand for your down payment. Working with a lender that allows a 10% down payment, instead of 20%, could help first-time buyers get a foothold in the steep Bay Area housing market. Because you’re going head to head with other home buyers in some of the most sought-after neighborhoods, you might not get your first pick neighborhood, or even your second. Hence, as you’re shopping around and you come upon an unfamiliar neighborhood that looks affordable and meets your other criteria, research is important.

Changing weather patterns are driving more frequent and severe wildfires, which are delivering dangerous levels of particle pollution to more communities. This is also the time to figure out what kind of mortgage loan would work best for you. Do your financial goals demand a fixed rate or adjustable rate mortgage? Because of the Bay Area’s high prices, many homebuyers take out jumbo loans; you should talk to your lender about how these differ from conforming loans. High home prices paired with high competition and few homes available for purchase equals a pretty insane housing market to enter.

“I guess it’s ‘Welcome to San Francisco,’” Cotchett’s spokesperson Lee Houskeeper bluntly told the newspaper. California Rep. Adam Schiff found out firsthand about San Francisco crime when his luggage was swiped from his car in a parking garage Thursday – forcing him to attend a fancy dinner in casual wear, according to a report. Talk to our lung health experts at the American Lung Association.

If you already rent a home in the Bay Area and love it enough to buy it, let your landlord know you’re interested in making an offer. For example, house hunters who may have never previously set foot in a high-crime neighborhood, such as deep East Oakland, are now buying homes there. They’re also venturing into towns previously thought of as too out of the way, such as Vallejo, which is 32 miles outside of San Francisco, but has a direct ferry connection to the city.

Unlike the story with the ice cream parlor that never opened, this one has a slightly happier ending. At a hearing before the Board of Supervisors, the complaining neighbors had their attorney make their case and the Board quickly decided the whole thing was nonsense and sided with the homeowners. Because this is California, the neighbors raised a host of spurious environmental and historical claims about the "monster home." The San Francisco, CA metro area sits in Northern California, right along the coast. This place has a long story, starting with Native American tribes, then Spanish colonization in the late 18th century, and becoming part of the United States in 1848.

One of the neighbors, David Garofoli, who is now objecting to the construction doubled the size of his own house less than a decade ago. More recently, another house nearby went from under 1,000 square feet to 5,100 square feet. The current owners who paid more than $7 million for that massively upsized home are also opposing the construction project.

43.9 million people live in areas with failing grades for all three measures. The report found that a person of color in the U.S. is 2.3 times more likely than a white individual to live in a community with a failing grade on all three air pollution measures. Although there were exceptions, ozone pollution has generally improved across the nation. 2.4 million fewer people lived in areas with unhealthy ozone pollution compared to last year’s report, but more than 100 million people (nearly 30%) still live with unhealthy ozone pollution. The “State of the Air” report has seen a dramatic improvement in ozone pollution over the last 25 years. The first “State of the Air,” released in May 2000, reported that 72% of people in the U.S. who lived in counties with ozone monitors had unhealthy levels of ozone pollution.

In fact, Realtor.com just called Vallejo the hottest market in the country. As noted, if you’re thinking about house hunting in the Bay Area, competition will affect every stage of the homebuying process, from finding the most desirable neighborhood through the closing. While most young professionals would love to settle on a trendy block with great amenities, the reality is that first-time homebuyers are generally forced to be flexible about location. Not only are prices high, but because the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas are among the hottest real estate markets in the country, competition to purchase properties—even at mind-blowing prices—is intense. All 10 of the cities identified in a 2016 CoreLogic study as having the nation’s most bidding wars were in the Bay Area.

It’ll help to work with a lender that does not require you to pay private mortgage insurance (PMI), even on loans of less than 20% of a home’s value. PMI typically costs 0.5% to 1.5% of the original loan amount per year, so avoiding it can make a big difference in your monthly payment. In other markets, you might spend several months comparing different properties.

This increase is partly due to EPA’s new, stricter National Ambient Air Quality Standard for the annual measure of fine particulate matter, finalized in February. The standard now better reflects the science on health harm and shows that millions of people are living in areas that have unhealthy levels of annual particle pollution. The American Lung Association’s new “State of the Air” report reveals that spikes in deadly particle pollution are the most severe they’ve been in the history of the report. According to the new report, people in the U.S. experienced the most days with “very unhealthy” and “hazardous” air quality due to particle pollution in 25 years. In total, the report finds that 131 million people (39%) are living in areas with unhealthy levels of air pollution.

The wide boardwalk is constructed with heavy timber wood and stretches more than 2.5 miles along the harbor and marina, a long inlet that reaches the North Atlantic. The boardwalk area is filled with restaurants (be sure to grab a lobster roll), pub, shops and activities to enjoy. We saw ice cream stands, poutineries, pizza joints, pubs (Halifax boasts the most per capita in Canada), craft breweries and a beer garden. Immerse yourself in history at the iconic Citadel Hill, stroll along the historic waterfront, or visit the captivating exhibits at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Sample delicious seafood, explore charming neighborhoods like Peggy's Cove, and embrace the lively music and cultural scene that makes Halifax a truly unforgettable destination.

Itinerary #3: Take a Day Tour of Peggy’s Cove

Shore Excursions

There were plenty of tourists, too, as Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas, Holland America Line’s Veendam and Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Dawn cruise ships all were in port that morning. The main waterfront attractions begin at the start of the boardwalk close to which the Halifax cruise terminal is located. You can walk along the waterfront right from the cruise terminal, or rent a bicycle.

In addition, it is one of just a few eastern seaboard ports able to accommodate and service fully laden post-Panamax container ships using the latest technology. Because Halifax, Nova Scotia was the nearest port to the sinking, rescue ships were dispatched from the seaport, only to return with the 120 bodies and bits of personal belongings. The cemetery has become a popular tourist attraction in recent years. I’ve leisurely walked for hours admiring how much that Halifax has to offer, all within an easy few miles of the harbor.

Learn how Halifax and the Titanic are connected at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic

It was moved to its current seaport facility in 2010 and is home to more than 250 vendors. We would be joining the new Scenic Eclipse expedition ship which arrived in port that afternoon. Our cruise would take us to Portland, Maine; Martha’s Vineyard and New York City.

It’s a piece of shrapnel that was blasted into the church when two ships collided in Halifax Harbor causing the Explosion of 1917. If the weather permits or even if not, take a stroll along the Halifax Harbourwalk that extends nearly two miles into downtown Halifax. Along the way you might see a majestic tall ship moored alongside the walk. If you’re at all interested in history, it’s worth a few minutes of observation.

Four MSC Ships Will Cruise from North America next Summer

The picturesque red and white lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove is one of Nova Scotia’s must-see sights. Peggy’s Cove day trip options are plentiful, and you can choose between guided hikes, coastal cruises, and tours that also include the Halifax city highlights. Halifax Public Gardens are one of the finest examples of Victorian Gardens and the only surviving authentic Victorian Gardens in North America. It is a stunning 16-acre oasis containing fountains, rare flowers, trees, and a beautiful gazebo. The gardens are located around 2 km/1.3 miles from the Halifax cruise terminal, roughly a 7-minute ride or 20 to 30 minutes walk depending on your walking speed. Travelers say Halifax is best seen on foot, so forget about the car and start walking!

Covered hydraulic gangways lead directly into Pavilion 22, the new cruise passenger handling facility. Pavilion 22 offers visitors the best of Nova Scotian handcrafts, gifts and signature products. Phones, tour and visitor information are also available at the facility. Tour buses and taxis are conveniently located in front of Pavilion 22. If multiple cruise ships are in port, they may dock at lower berths and passengers will be shuttled to the terminal. On-site amenities include the Gallery shop, the Art Sales & Rental Gallery, and a café.

High atop a hill with seemingly infinite views over the city and beyond is the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, a star-shaped fort built by the British. Time your visit to include midday, so you can see the firing of the Noon Day Gun. True military history enthusiasts can also book a three-hour “Soldier for a Day” experience, in which you can dress in a 19th-century battlefield costume and learn to fire an antique rifle.

Tours visit such area attractions as the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, the Old Town Clock, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and more. Another popular downtown Halifax attraction, the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, pays tribute to Canada’s immigration history. You’ll find plenty of boutique shops and independent retailers downtown and along the waterfront.

A city of 370,000 people, it has a friendly and upbeat culture with a walkable downtown surrounded by quaint rural communities. If you’re in Halifax on a Saturday, you can visit the oldest-running farmer’s market in North America, which is located on Lower Water Street. Pick up souvenirs from here including handmade sea glass jewelry, tins of maple syrup, local wines, and Nova Scotian knitwear. Today, Halifax is a thriving container and cruise ship port, with a rich culture of music, pubs and cafés, and year-round festivals.

Other exhibits include the Halifax Harbour explosion, the history of pirates and more! Located on picturesque Halifax Harbour, this is a great stop to learn about the history of Halifax. Did you know that Halifax and the Titanic crossed paths in history?!

This green space has about 25 miles of easy, winding trails, preserved ruins and fortresses, and frequently hosts outdoor theater performances under Shakespeare by the Sea. For those who love art, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is home to a vast collection of local Canadian art. The Gallery is the largest of its kind in all of Eastern Canada, and it has on display modern paintings, photographs, sculptures as well as changing exhibitions featuring international artists. No visit to Halifax is complete without a taste of donair, the city’s official dish. This delicious snack consists of thin sliced beef with spices, tomatoes and onions served in a grilled pita and drizzled with sweet sauce. You can find donair in the pizza restaurants as well as donuts inspired by donair, poutine and lots more in the city.

Explore Peggy’s Cove Region

Highlights include artifacts recovered from the Titanic, carved pieces of woodwork found near the wreckage, and a beautiful mahogany cabinet that survived the sinking. Continue along the Harbourwalk, which, at over 4 kilometers, is one of the longest continuous boardwalks in the world. You’ll also find Alexander Keith’s — Nova Scotia’s oldest brewery — right across from the boardwalk, open for tours.

Start off by Visiting Pier 21: The Canadian Museum of Immigration

In 1912, Halifax’s history became inextricably linked with the Titanic disaster, as this is where the survivors and the dead were brought from the scene. Many of those who perished were laid to rest in three of the city’s cemeteries. Halifax endured further disaster in 1917 when, on December 6, two ships collided in the harbor, creating a catastrophic explosion that killed 1,800 and destroyed several buildings. Seafood plays an important part in Halifax’s cuisine, as does the city’s Scottish heritage. Look out for creamed lobster, crab cakes, oysters, fish and chips, and East Coast chowder, a creamy stew rich in fresh scallops, haddock, and shrimp.

Pause to Look Up at the Old Town Clock

On a Canada and New England cruise that stops in Halifax, you’ll have a chance to learn more about the naval history here, from imposing 18th-century forts built by the British to the Titanic connection. You’ll be shown around by tour guides dressed in tartan, pointing out statues of Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott. Experience the city’s vibrant live music scene in one of its cozy pubs, where it’s fun to relax with a craft beer and a lobster roll or poutine. Tours include convenient round-trip transportation from the cruise port and interesting commentary about the city’s historical, cultural, and political significance from a local guide. In December of 1917, a French munitions ship collided with a Norwegian vessel in the harbor and the explosion resulted in the loss of over 2,000 lives and leveled much of the city’s northern end.

Once you reach Lower Water Street, you can’t miss Alexander Keith’s Brewery. Located in a 200-year old ironstone brewery, Keith’s tours take guests back in time to explain the beer-making process that began here in 1820. Despite the weather, I was on my way to visit one of the most photographed locations in the Atlantic Provinces, Peggy’s Cove. Added bonus, there would still be enough time after Peggy’s Cove to explore and revisit some of the best things to do in Halifax, and my favorite places.

Cruises to Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Titanic Exhibit begins with the construction of the “unsinkable ship” and culminates with the story of the rescue of 120 bodies brought to Halifax when the ship sank on April 15, 1912. There are Titanic artifacts, a child’s pair of shoes and you can even sit in a salvaged deck chair from the Titanic. Located along the waterfront, authentically restored early 18th century stone and wooden buildings are nestled in an area that was once the core of the Halifax sea trade. Take a left turn at Prince Street and continue a short distance to Lower Water Street to the Brewery Market. Here you can learn the process of beer making, and sample a few during the tour. The story goes that the Duke was obsessed with time and ordered the four clock faces to be built so that no one in his regiment had an excuse to be late.

In the event that there are several ships already in the port, it is possible your ship will dock at moorings that are further away and passengers will then be offered a shuttle service to the terminal. Here you will get stories of seafaring and mementos from the Titanic, and be sure to survey the city from the 18th-century Citadel National Historic Site. Then walk into any of Halifax’s great bars and restaurants and catch some live music to round out your day. You could also rent a car from Halifax Cruise Port if you wanted to take a day trip to Peggy’s Cove on your own terms. There are plenty of car rental companies within short walking distance of the port. There is an Enterprise in Downtown Halifax – rates start at around $90 for the day. Halifax, the capital of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, is home to rich maritime history.

There are lots of day trips to choose from such as guided visits, coastal boat tours and tours that also include the city of Halifax. Near the lighthouse you’ll find food trucks selling takeout, as well as a restaurant and a coffee shop. History buffs won’t want to miss a visit to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The museum has information on everything from the region’s first shipbuilders, tragic shipwrecks, the city’s involvement in the World Wars, the Halifax explosion and the sinking of the Titanic. Highlights include artifacts from the Titanic, pieces of carved wood found near the wreck, and a beautiful shipwreck-resistant mahogany cabinet.

The seaport is a natural deep waterway and officially known as Halifax Harbour (locode CAHAL). Now that you know what I think are the best things to do in Halifax, I hope this makes it easier for you to plan your one day in port. A popular attraction for children is the Theodore Tugboat exhibit, especially if they need to burn off a little energy.

The Port of Halifax is very popular for cruises in Canada and New England. The ships dock at piers 20 and 22 near downtown, allowing passengers easy access to the city. Visitors can easily explore the city center on foot or with public transportation, taxis or bicycles that can be rented at the terminal.

Season 2017 featured 6 maiden calls, over 30 shore-power connections, 4 visits by Cunard's RMS Queen Mary 2 (maiden call on June 13th), Disney Magic (1 call on October 26).

I tried Carnival's older cruise ships and never want to go back

Carnival has kept this ship up, with regular refurbishments and dry docks, with the most recent occurring in 2023, and the next scheduled for 2026. If I ever were to consider sailing on a Fantasy Class ship again, I'd choose Carnival Paradise simply because it sails out of Tampa. When Mardi Gras launched in 2021, one of the most notable features was the absence of shower curtains. Though minor, the glass shower door on Carnival Celebration was a modern touch that I sorely missed while sailing on Carnival Elation. Typically, I don't worry about unpacking the products inside of my hanging toiletries organizer; however, I didn't have a choice on Carnival Elation!

A total of 98 balconies were added to existing staterooms, which were upgraded to 230 ft2 / 21 m2 sized balcony cabins. The number of passenger staterooms was increased from 1026 to 1094, which increased the boat's passenger capacity from 2052 to 2128 (max 2462 to 2554). The fourth floor cabins are quiet, but they are far from the coffee, snacks and beverages on Deck 10. I recommend a Deck 6 cabin for better convenience to shipboard amenities. There’s an adults only sun lounging area for ages 21+ on Deck 9 Aft, called the Serenity Deck. We found that the Deck 15 Sun Deck was larger and quieter. While the sun deck does not have a hot tub, it was our favorite place to relax with a good book!

If you’re looking for the greatest room on the ship, look up. The Grand Vista Suite is the biggest, located on the uppermost deck… and all this altitude has a way of also elevating the view. As do floor-to-ceiling windows that make sure nothing gets in the way. Even more convenience and comfort come standard, like a huge balcony made for stretching out, a tub that’s great for doing the same, a convenient walk-in dressing area, plus VIP check-in. Supervised age-specific fun youth activities will keep kids from ages 2 to 11 years happy and busy at Camp Carnival, which is like a summer camp, but at sea.

Also, any child not potty-trained is prohibited from all water facilities on board. Some are included in the cost of the cruise, while others have an additional charge. The vessel was last drydocked in 2023 (January 21 thru February 10) at Grand Bahama Shipyard (Freeport). And, since my daughter is only 19, we could hang out together. The ship was last updated in 2023, and it still looks fresh and clean. The rich, warm browns, beautiful lights, gleaming floors and railings are striking. But, the atrium is small, with a central bar in front of the grand staircase surrounded by the guest services desk and the shore excursions desk. Musicians perform on the small stage behind the bar, filling the atrium space with music.

There are no specialty dining restaurants on the ship, but the restaurant staff has come up with a few creative solutions to allow people an upscale dining experience even without dedicated space for it. The buffet, Guys Burger Joint and Blue Iguana Cantina all had great food. We liked the options and that there was plenty of seating on the ship.

In December 2017, Carnival announced the 2019 deployment of Carnival Elation to Port Canaveral (Orlando Florida) (new homeport). Starting on May 12, 2019, the ship will operate a year-round schedule of 4- and 5-day Bahamas cruises. Departures are on Thursdays (4-day itinerary to Freeport and Nassau) and on Mondays and Saturdays (5-day itinerary to Amber Cove Dominicana and Grand Turk Island). Follows the complete list of Carnival Elation lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens, and adults.

I’ve not seen this on other ships, and think it’s a great addition on the Carnival Elation. Carnival Elation's Porthole staterooms give you the classic seafarer';s view times two - a pair of round windows providing an affordable view of the ocean. If you tire of ocean-gazing, there's plenty more to do onboard, but 24-hour room service is one amenity you can enjoy as you continue to take in the view. The Carnival ship Elation is one of the company's oldest (Fantasy-class) vessels with sisterships Ecstasy, Fantasy, Fascination, Imagination, Inspiration, Paradise, Sensation. A fleet-first feature for a Fun Ship is CCL Elation's dedicated conference center able to accommodate small groups for private meetings.

In comparison, when sailing on Carnival Conquest, a larger vessel with a maximum capacity of nearly 4,000 guests, we were required to pick up a tender group number the morning of our arrival. They seemed to really abide by the groups, too, as I saw numerous guests get turned away trying to disembark before they were called. Overall, I didn't have any major issues with the quality of the food onboard Carnival Elation. Some dishes fell short compared to those I had on Carnival Conquest, Vista, and Celebration; however, venues like Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana remained fairly consistent.
